Volkswagen Group of America has launched a $114 million port facility at Port Freeport, Texas, to enhance its auto import and processing capabilities, aiming to handle up to 140,000 vehicles annually for brands like Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche. This facility, which consolidates two smaller operations in Houston and Midlothian, will support around 300 dealerships in the central and western U.S. Improved access to rail and trucking is expected to streamline logistics. Additionally, Volkswagen has partnered with Brazosport College to develop a logistics program to support the local workforce.
