Abu Dhabi Airports has begun constructing the East Midfield Cargo Terminal (EMCT) at Zayed International Airport, which will cover 90,000 square meters and increase the airport’s cargo capacity to process 1 to 1.5 million tonnes annually. The EMCT will integrate with the logistics free trade zone, providing services like warehousing and distribution. Abu Dhabi Airports, which operates five airports in the UAE, reported a 23% increase in cargo handling this year, driven by rising demand. Significant investments in warehousing infrastructure are also underway to support trade and logistics growth.
