Walmart recently launched a 725,000-square-foot perishable distribution center in Wellford, South Carolina, which will process fresh produce, dairy, meat, and frozen goods for 180 stores, employing over 600 full-time workers. This facility is one of five new centers aimed at enhancing Walmart’s grocery supply chain, utilizing automation and AI to efficiently manage inventory and ensure product freshness. The location can handle more than double the volume of traditional centers, improving delivery speed and accuracy while allowing store staff to focus more on customer service.
