Walgreens has launched a new micro-fulfillment center in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, marking a renewed effort to expand its automated facilities after previously pausing growth to enhance productivity and reduce costs. This center is the 12th in Walgreens’ network and will serve nearly 200 stores in the Midwest, processing around 13 million prescriptions annually. The company aims to support close to 6,000 U.S. stores with these centers, leveraging robotic technology to improve efficiency amidst challenges in the retail pharmacy sector, including plans to close 1,200 stores.
