UPS has introduced a voluntary buyout program for its delivery drivers, allowing employees to leave with a payout of $1,800 per year of service, with a minimum of $10,000. This initiative is part of UPS’s strategy to accelerate employee attrition and streamline operations, as the company has closed 74 facilities this year. While 85% of drivers are at the top of the pay scale, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is urging members to reject the offers, claiming the program violates their contract. The buyout period began on July 18 and ends soon, with departures starting in late August.
