A recent study by the U.S. Fashion Industry Association indicates that the Trump administration’s tariffs have not successfully encouraged U.S. fashion companies to source domestically. Most of the 25 surveyed companies reported higher costs due to tariffs, with over 70% delaying or canceling orders. While more than 80% plan to diversify their sourcing, challenges remain, such as lower U.S. textile production and a lack of infrastructure to support domestic sourcing. Labor shortages and uncertainty in trade policy further complicate efforts to shift production closer to home.
