The New York City Department of Transportation is expanding its LockerNYC delivery locker program to 36 new locations to combat package theft and reduce truck traffic. The program, which offers free public lockers for package sending and receiving, will increase its total to 70 locations. Since launching in April 2024, there have been over 15,000 reservations. It aims to address the issue of stolen packages, as nearly 90,000 are reported lost daily in NYC, while also minimizing truck trips by centralizing deliveries. The expansion is set to be evaluated next summer.
