India has eliminated the mandatory cargo re-screening at transfer airports, aiming to enhance air cargo logistics efficiency. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) outlined new security protocols for various cargo transfer scenarios, requiring cargo to be routed through a Transfer Cargo Security Hold Area (TCSHA) unless moved between aircraft within two hours. While this change is expected to reduce delays, concerns about infrastructure readiness at some airports persist. Stakeholders acknowledge potential challenges but express optimism about India’s position as a key transshipment hub.
