East Midlands Airport (EMA) has announced plans to develop over 50 hectares of land around its runway, potentially creating more than 20,000 jobs. This initiative aims to establish EMA as the UK’s leading air cargo hub, responding to a projected 54% growth in cargo demand over the next two decades. The development will include four plots with direct runway access, offering tax incentives through the East Midlands Freeport. A recent study indicates that this growth could generate significant economic value, supporting up to £3.9 billion and 21,300 jobs by 2043, enhancing the airport’s role in UK trade.
