DHL Group introduced the Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) at the OECD International Transport Forum, developed with Scania. This innovative electric truck features a fuel-powered backup generator to recharge its batteries, allowing it to be tested for parcel transport between Berlin and Hamburg. Over 100 days, the EREV traveled nearly 22,000 kilometers, operating over 90% in electric mode and reducing CO2 emissions by more than 90% compared to diesel trucks. CEO Tobias Meyer emphasized the need for pragmatic solutions like the EREV to accelerate the transition to electrified transport amidst inadequate charging infrastructure.
