Boeing has officially begun production of the 777-8 freighter, designed to be the largest and most efficient twin-engine freighter in the world. The production was marked by the drilling of the first hole in a crucial wing spar component. Teams at the Composite Wing Centre have fabricated essential parts, using 392 miles of carbon fiber tape for each pair of spars, weighing 2,500 pounds. Since the program’s launch in 2022, 59 orders have been placed, with the first delivery expected in 2028. Boeing emphasizes its commitment to building safe and efficient airplanes.
