The Universal Postal Union (UPU) has introduced a “Delivery Duty Paid” capability to assist postal operators in resuming U.S.-bound services after the removal of the de minimis exemption. This new tool allows carriers to calculate and collect necessary duties for shipments to the U.S. and will soon be integrated into the UPU’s Customs Declaration System. Following the exemption’s end on August 29, many operators halted U.S. services due to difficulties in adapting to the new duty requirements, resulting in an 81% drop in traffic from UPU member countries to the U.S.
