Union Pacific Railroad will introduce a new intermodal service on September 3, connecting Southern California’s Inland Empire to Chicago, enhancing intermodal capacity significantly. This service promises up to 20% faster transit times, reducing travel to three days, and will initially operate five days a week, with potential for expansion. Kenny Rocker, Union Pacific’s executive vice president, emphasized that this service aims to provide reliable transportation that competes directly with truck services, as part of their Z train network for time-sensitive freight.
