The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) now requires all de minimis-eligible imports to undergo agency review during the entry process, as announced in a July 9 Customs and Border Protection bulletin. This change removes previous exemptions for certain low-value products, including cosmetics and food, which previously could bypass FDA scrutiny. Affected imports must now provide complete FDA data for entry, with compliance crucial to avoid delays or enforcement actions. This initiative aims to enhance trade legitimacy and prevent the import of non-compliant products, with stricter customs enforcement policies already in place.
