Standard Motor Products has opened a 575,000-square-foot national distribution center in Shawnee, Kansas, enhancing its supply chain capabilities. This facility incorporates automation technology, aiming to reduce transportation costs and expedite delivery of vehicle control products to the West Coast. The Shawnee site will increase SMP’s distribution capacity to 1.4 million square feet and transition from a single-point to a multi-point distribution model, enabling faster order fulfillment. The Edwardsville center will close, but its staff will be retained. CEO Eric Sills highlighted the center’s role in meeting growing customer demand.
