Lufthansa Cargo has launched operations at its new European hub in Rome, enhancing its global air freight network. This initiative began on June 17, 2025, with four ITA Airways flights from South America arriving at Rome-Fiumicino Airport, marking the first phase of a partnership that provides cargo capacity from select South American locations. The Rome hub, now Lufthansa Cargo’s fifth in Europe, offers customers increased flexibility and routing options. Future expansions may include broader freight capacity across ITA Airways’ network, promoting sustainable logistics initiatives like the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
