Budapest Airport is enhancing its role as a key air cargo hub in Central and Eastern Europe, focusing on infrastructure, network growth, and international best practices. In 2024, it experienced a 48.8% increase in cargo handling, reaching 341,000 tonnes, with capacity expected to rise to 420,000 tonnes after recent expansions. The airport is also pursuing IATA CEIV Lithium Batteries certification, becoming the first European airport to do so. Strong partnerships with airlines and integrators like DHL and FedEx bolster its connectivity, supporting over 80 freighter flights weekly and expanding services to global markets.
