Finnair and DB Schenker have launched a sustainability partnership, with DB Schenker agreeing to purchase nearly 400 tonnes of scope 3 CO2e reductions, equivalent to about 120 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from Finnair. Both companies aim to enhance SAF usage to cut greenhouse gas emissions in air cargo transport, as SAF can reduce emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil jet fuel. Finnair targets a 34.5% reduction in carbon emissions intensity by 2033 and net-zero emissions by 2050, while DB Schenker, an early SAF adopter, is focused on expanding low-carbon air freight solutions.
