Global air freight rates fell by 4.7% in the week ending January 20, according to TAC Index, although they remain 16.6% higher than a year ago. Despite predictions of a downturn in e-commerce, reports indicate a recent rise in spot rates, attributed to a mini peak ahead of Chinese New Year. Outbound routes from Hong Kong and Shanghai saw slight weekly declines but are still up year-over-year. Frankfurt and London also experienced drops, while Chicago’s outbound rates fell after a period of gains, although they remain significantly higher than last year.
