Global trade data reveals the impacts of President Trump’s tariffs, specifically his executive order imposing a 10% baseline tariff aimed at reducing the U.S. trade deficit, boosting exports, and decreasing import reliance. The data shows that the top four U.S. trading partners— the European Union, Mexico, Canada, and China—accounted for nearly 60% of total trade in 2024. Including South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the UK, the top nine partners represent three-quarters of U.S. trade activity.
