Port strikes at East Coast and Gulf Coast ports began on Tuesday, disrupting operations and raising concerns about their duration. The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) initiated the strike after rejecting a wage package from the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). The ILA plans to continue demonstrations until their demands are met. As a result, several ports, including Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Port Houston, and Georgia Ports Authority, reported closures or limited operations, significantly affecting cargo handling across the regions.
