Vioneo BE, founded by A.P. Moller Holding, is set to become the first large-scale producer of fossil-free plastics using green methanol, with an initial plant in Antwerp, Belgium. This facility aims to produce 300,000 tonnes of fossil-free plastics annually, reducing CO2 emissions by 1.5 million tons and revitalizing the European chemicals sector. The project, requiring a €1.5 billion investment, relies on stakeholder support, regulatory frameworks, and customer commitments. Alex Hogan has been appointed CEO to lead these sustainability efforts in the chemicals industry, aiming for commercial operations by 2028.
