UPS has rebranded its SurePost service to UPS Ground Saver, aimed at providing economical shipping options for less urgent deliveries within the contiguous U.S. This change includes keeping all delivery operations in-house, moving away from reliance on the U.S. Postal Service. Notably, liability for lost or damaged packages has decreased from $100 to $20 per package. Despite positioning as a low-cost service, UPS implemented a nearly 10% rate increase in January, prompting some customers to consider alternatives, although existing contracts may complicate switching carriers.
