UPS has cut its daily volume capacity by around 1 million packages this year due to the closure of 45 operational facilities, including nine full buildings, under its “Network of the Future” initiative. This has led to an 8% improvement in efficiency, translating to 11 million saved hours. Despite a challenging demand environment, UPS reported a 6.5% year-over-year increase in average daily U.S. volume in Q3, its highest growth in three years. The company aims to close about 200 facilities while increasing automation in its network to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
