UPS has introduced a $0.29 per pound surcharge on shipments from China, Hong Kong, and Macau to the U.S., effective through March 29. This “Surge Fee,” applicable based on shipment weight and subject to UPS’ fuel surcharge, aims to meet increasing export demand from Asia, which saw a 15.4% rise in average daily export volume in Q4. The surcharge is part of UPS’s strategy to manage heightened shipping demands and comes alongside other upcoming changes, including increased late payment rates and new fees for payment transfers.
