UPS is raising its fuel surcharge rates by 50 basis points for ground, air, and SurePost services in the U.S., which experts say will increase delivery costs for shippers. The adjustment is based on average diesel and jet fuel prices, similar to FedEx’s approach. Additionally, UPS will implement new fees on March 31, including a $5 charge for printed invoices and a $25 fee for payments made by check or wire transfer. Shippers are advised to automate payments and use e-invoicing to avoid extra charges. FedEx may follow with similar fee increases soon.
