Ulta Beauty initiated a supply chain transformation in 2021, opting for a smaller footprint with a market fulfillment center (MFC) model instead of large underutilized facilities. This approach includes four regional distribution centers, three MFCs, and one “fast” fulfillment center, enabling quicker build times and improved inventory management. The company is enhancing its regional distribution centers with automation and retrofitting existing locations. Ulta’s Project SOAR, an enterprise resource planning upgrade, supports cross-docking capabilities, streamlining operations to meet growing e-commerce demands.
