Since beginning its supply chain transformation in 2021, Ulta Beauty has opted for a smaller operational footprint compared to its competitors, focusing on a more flexible model with regional distribution and market fulfillment centers (MFCs). The company plans to operate four regional centers and several MFCs, which are faster to build and maintain. To enhance efficiency, Ulta is retrofitting existing facilities with advanced automation and warehouse management technology. Their Project SOAR is also improving operations through upgraded enterprise resource planning, which has enabled cross-docking capabilities essential for their MFCs.
