The FDA has postponed the implementation of a food traceability rule by 30 months, now set for January 20, 2026, to give companies more time to comply. This rule, aimed at improving recordkeeping for tracing food sources during contamination outbreaks, was developed in response to a significant E. Coli outbreak in 2018. While larger grocery chains like Kroger and Walmart have already adopted stringent traceability measures, the delay has raised concerns among food safety advocates who argue it hinders transparency in the food supply chain.
