The Energy Department has announced a $40 million investment in the domestic solar supply chain, continuing the federal commitment to clean energy highlighted by Vice President Kamala Harris. Approximately $16 million will support projects to enhance the lifecycle of photovoltaic solar systems, while $20 million will focus on improving solar manufacturing. This funding aims to bolster the management of solar panels at the end of their life, addressing environmental concerns related to hazardous materials and reducing projected solar waste, which could reach 10 million tons by 2050 in the U.S.
