In the first three quarters of this year, the port of Rotterdam experienced a 0.4% decrease in total throughput, totaling 328.6 million tonnes, primarily due to reduced coal and crude oil volumes. However, the container sector showed growth, with a 3.0% increase in weight and a 2.2% rise in container numbers. Notably, iron ore and scrap throughput rose by 11.1%. Challenges remain for European industries due to high energy costs and geopolitical issues, while LNG and liquid bulk throughput also fell due to high reserves and lower demand.
