The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will resume cargo operations on Friday evening after a three-day strike by the International Longshoremen’s Association, which resulted in a tentative wage agreement. Starting October 4 at 7 p.m. ET, the port will begin discharging and reloading containers and automobiles, with full terminal operations resuming by October 7. Currently, 24 ships are waiting to enter the port, carrying a total of 35,000 import containers. Other ports are also reopening, enhancing overall cargo flow.
