In October, the Port of Los Angeles achieved a record handling of 905,026 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), marking a 25% year-over-year increase and the first time surpassing 900,000 TEUs for four consecutive months. For 2024, the port has processed 8,491,420 TEUs, 19% ahead of last year’s pace. Executive Director Gene Seroka attributed the sustained volumes to factors like strong consumer spending and potential new tariffs. October saw loaded imports rise by 24% to 462,740 TEUs and loaded exports increase by 1% to 122,716 TEUs, alongside a significant rise in empty container processing.
