In January 2025, the Port of Los Angeles achieved a record processing of 924,245 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs), marking the busiest start in its 117-year history and an 8% rise from the previous year. Executive Director Gene Seroka attributed this success to a robust economy and importers preparing for tariffs and the Lunar New Year. The port managed to handle these volumes efficiently without delays. Additionally, January saw loaded imports of 483,831 TEUs (up 9.5%), while loaded exports decreased by 10.5% to 113,271 TEUs, alongside a 14% increase in empty containers processed.
