The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) announced they will resume discussions on the Master Contract next month, following an extension until January 15, 2025. This decision follows a tentative wage agreement and aims to address outstanding issues after the recent contract expiration. Both organizations expressed eagerness to finalize a new agreement. President Biden praised the reopening of ports and the tentative wage increase, highlighting the importance of collaboration in securing a strong contract for dockworkers, which is vital for the economy.
