The IMO-WISTA Women in Maritime Survey, running from September 2 to December 31, 2024, aims to collect baseline data on women’s participation in the maritime sector. IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez has called on governments, companies, and academic institutions to participate in this vital study, which takes place every three years. The previous survey revealed that women represent less than a third of the workforce and under 2% of seafarers. The initiative seeks to develop policies that promote gender diversity and inclusion within the industry, with results expected in May 2025.
