The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is enhancing global ship safety management, focusing on seafarer welfare, including work hours and harassment issues. During its 110th session, the Maritime Safety Committee emphasized revising the International Safety Management (ISM) Code to improve enforcement and implementation guidelines. This will address violence and harassment on ships, detail responsibilities for handling reports, and ensure compliance with regulations. Additional priorities include tackling seafarer fatigue and enhancing safety protocols for emerging technologies, alongside ongoing reviews of training standards and cybersecurity measures.
