Despite the overall safety of the year, three serious accidents resulted in two fatalities, leading to a decrease in the Nautical Safety Index from 7.5 to 6.1. Harbour Master René de Vries emphasized the need for improved safety measures, particularly around the busy Erasmus Bridge, including proposed speed limits. Additionally, he highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance cybersecurity and manage sanctioned cargo from Russia.
