The latest Shippers Conditions Index (SCI) from FTR shows notable growth, with an August reading of 2.9, up from July’s 0.5. This marks the fifth consecutive month of positive readings after a decline period. The SCI, which assesses market conditions for shippers, remains favorable due to falling diesel prices and weaker freight rates, although freight volume and capacity utilization had neutral impacts. FTR’s vice president noted that while the market is currently shipper-friendly, future projections suggest a more neutral environment by 2025 with only slight challenges ahead.
