The EPA announced nearly $3 billion in grants from the Clean Ports Program for 55 projects across 27 states, aimed at funding zero-emission port equipment and infrastructure. This initiative is designed to combat climate change, reduce air pollution, and create jobs, with funding sourced from the Inflation Reduction Act. The grants will support the purchase of over 1,500 cargo handling units, 1,000 trucks, and various clean energy technologies, ultimately reducing carbon emissions by more than 3 million metric tons. The American Association of Port Authorities praised the program as a significant step toward a cleaner, more resilient transportation system.
