During a World Economic Forum panel in Gothenburg, APM Terminals CEO Keith Svendsen emphasized the necessity of enhancing port ecosystems to promote renewable energy. The company aims for 100% renewable energy by 2030, having already achieved 40% and reduced emissions by 13% since 2020. APM Terminals also supports decarbonization for its clients by providing Shore Power to ships and co-founding the Zero Emission Port Alliance to make electric container handling more viable. Svendsen urged the International Maritime Organization to establish a pricing mechanism for clean fuels by 2025 to stimulate demand and improve competitiveness against fossil fuels.
