UPS has shifted its SurePost delivery service, now exclusively using UPS drivers instead of relying on the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) for final-mile deliveries, according to a Teamsters spokesperson. This change results in millions of packages being sorted and delivered solely by UPS. The official UPS website has removed references to USPS in its SurePost information, indicating a significant reduction in USPS’s role. With this transition, UPS may increase rates for deliveries to remote areas, potentially positioning SurePost to offer services similar to FedEx Ground Economy, which also moved away from USPS for final-mile delivery.
