Swiss WorldCargo will adjust its Airfreight Surcharge (ASC) to account for increasing costs of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) due to new EU regulations starting in 2025. The ASC, established in 2015 to address rising costs beyond the company’s control, relies on a flexible index system for adjustments. Swiss WorldCargo aims for a net CO2 balance by 2050 and a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030, focusing on sustainable practices and investment in an eco-friendly fleet. Their ‘Green Choice’ service allows customers to combine SAF with climate protection projects, promoting sustainable air transport. However, a significant increase in SAF supply and a decrease in prices are necessary for its broader adoption.
