Contract negotiations between FedEx and its pilots union are ongoing, with a federal mediator denying the union’s request to exit supervised talks. The National Mediation Board has urged both parties to resume discussions, which began in October 2022. Despite a tentative agreement in May 2023, which included a significant pay raise, pilots later rejected it, leading to renewed frustrations over stalled negotiations. FedEx is also restructuring its air cargo operations amid market pressures, which may affect pilot employment as it adjusts to reduced contracts with major clients like the U.S. Postal Service.
