In mid-November, air cargo spot rates from Europe surged, particularly to the Americas, with rates to Brazil significantly increasing due to congestion at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport. Average spot rates from Europe rose by 10% to $2.71 per kilo, 23% higher than the previous year. Notably, rates from Europe to the USA jumped 48% in five weeks, while those to Brazil soared 57% due to high congestion. Meanwhile, rates from Asia Pacific remained stable, with a slight dip to the USA, but overall prices are still up 25% year-on-year, reflecting strong market conditions.
