Qatar Airways Cargo has transported 2,800 tonnes of flowers, equivalent to 42 million fresh-cut red roses, from Kenya and South America in preparation for Valentine’s Day. The airline facilitated nearly 1,600 tonnes from Nairobi and around 1,200 tonnes from Bogota and Quito, serving major markets like Amsterdam, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. To meet heightened demand, they added nine charters from Nairobi and ten from Quito. The Chief Officer Cargo emphasized the importance of supporting the floriculture sectors in these regions and highlighted the company’s commitment to enhancing socio-economic development and ensuring timely delivery of these flowers globally.
