Chile's seafood industry has celebrated a significant achievement with its first shipment of fresh salmon fillets to Australia, weighing 220 kilograms and exported by two prominent companies. This milestone follows a thorough audit by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) to meet Australian market standards. Officials highlighted the shipment's importance for expanding Chile's salmon exports and creating new opportunities in a market of over 26 million people. The salmon industry, currently exporting to 76 countries, continues to thrive, with exports surpassing US$6 billion in 2023.
