Air cargo demand and pricing remained robust in August, with tonnages increasing by 10% year-on-year and rates rising by 12%, according to WorldACD Market Data. While total flown chargeable weight slightly decreased by 2% from July, average yields improved by 1% to $2.49 per kilo. Prices from the Asia Pacific rose to $3.26 per kilo, a 22% increase from last year, while rates from the Middle East and South Asia climbed by 3% to $2.81 per kilo, 58% higher than last August. As the fourth quarter approaches, a busy peak season is expected, driven by seasonal demand and e-commerce shipments. Potential industrial action at U.S. ports may further shift cargo from sea to air.
