Texel Air (Australasia), a New Zealand registered airline, has successfully conducted the world's first Extended Diversion Time Operations (EDTO) 120 flight using a Boeing 737-800 converted freighter. This inaugural flight, TFX12, operated between Melbourne and Perth, following certification from the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, which allows flights up to 120 minutes from the nearest airport. This capability is crucial for expanding routes and improving cargo efficiency across the Tasman Sea and within Australia. Texel Air aims to further extend its EDTO approval to 180 minutes, enhancing its operational flexibility and reliability for cargo services.
