Cross-border freight movements among the U.S., Canada, and Mexico have reached unprecedented levels, with Mexico surpassing China as the U.S.'s largest trading partner for the first time in two decades. In 2022, Mexico imported $475.6 billion in goods into the U.S., while Chinese imports dropped by 20% to $427.2 billion. The data shows over 320,000 freight movements among the three countries last year, including about 20,900 monthly movements between the U.S. and Mexico, and an additional 6,000 between the U.S. and Canada.
